About The Artist
Olivia Dilks is a contemporary Australian artist based on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Originally from the UK, Olivia draws on inspiration from botanicals, local and exotic landscapes and seascapes.
Olivia’s creativity began as a young child who went on to study Art and Textiles at college. Being unsure of which creative career to pursue and simultaneously being pulled to travel, she found herself in administrative roles for 20 years between the UK and Sydney.
Returning to her passion, Olivia graduated from the International School of Colour and Design in 2007 with the intention to pursue Interior Decoration and later, became a Kitchen Designer. Her journey as an artist was reignited in 2019 as a single mother, when she began painting in amongst juggling parenthood and part time work. In late 2020, Olivia embarked on the artist residency at La Crème Creative and held her first solo exhibition, Escape.
Olivia works primarily in acrylic, playing with colour placement and experimenting with contemporary, limited palettes. Her aesthetic is warm, calm and playful, highlighting the refreshing, rejuvenating qualities that nature and water provide.
Olivia loves sharing her passion and creative inspiration and teaches children's art classes and workshops, and small workshops and courses for adults in acrylic painting.
